Amid public calamity, Maiara and Maraisa perform in RS | Daniel Nascimento

Maiara and Maraisa may not have announced it on their official social networks, but they performed this weekend in Santa Bárbara do Sul, RS. However, the show took place while the state is facing a public calamity due to heavy rains and floods.

A video that has been circulating on the web shows the twins kept their commitment: “We couldn’t help but be with you here that night, okay? So, shall we sing?” said Maraisa, trying to cheer up the audience.

During the show, Maiara also spoke about the tragedy: “We are doing our best here and I think you are all doing your best. I want to ask you to take care of yourselves when you return home, take care of your friends, your family. All this, God willing, will pass,” she said.

While the Civil Defense records 78 deaths due to the floods, the recognition of public calamity by the Federal Government speeds up the transfer of funds. Cities such as Porto Alegre, Canoas and Caxias do Sul were affected, and other deaths are still being investigated.
