“I thank you very much, I’m already going to Palenque. They have treated me very well and they have been reciprocated. “I have fulfilled my commitments from the beginning of my government,” the president told him, who was interrupted with loud applause from the audience.
AMLO highlights employment, remittances and strengthening of the peso
During the last meeting of his six-year term with Mexican bankers, López Obrador highlighted the economic figures of his Governmentamong them the record of jobs registered with the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS), as well as the weight strengthening during his administration.
“Mexico is one of the countries in the world with the least unemployment. We are almost at full employment,” he highlighted, mentioning that the country has 2.6 percent unemployment, positioning itself in the last places compared to other countries.

Regarding the performance of the peso, he reiterated that this phenomenon had not been seen in a long time: “If we see the behavior of our currency in relation to the dollar and other currencies in the world, the peso has strengthened,” he assured.

As for the remittancesLópez Obrador described this indicator as a ‘blessing’as he stated that these resources help reactivate the economy and keep the domestic market strengthened.
“This money reaches 10 million families in the country and reaches the poorest people who live in remote, marginalized communities. This helped us a lot, especially during the pandemic. With these remittances sent by our countrywomen, countrymen who are heroes and heroines,” he noted.
According to the foreign direct investment, stated that there are also record figures of foreign investment that has arrived in our country: “It is also unprecedented data,” he assured. Likewise, he highlighted that Mexico has become the United States’ main trading partnerdisplacing China and Canada.
“When we came into office, China was the US’s first trading partner, then it was displaced by Canada, we rose to second and now we are in first place. We are the main trading partner of the United States. This should lead us to think that economic integration, the trade agreement, is very important. we need each other. Foreign investment will continue to arrive, our economy will continue to integrate with the economy of our northern neighbor. This is historic,” he stressed.
