Andrés Manuel Lopez comes from the middle class, which he now describes as “aspirational.” He forgets that, thanks to his aspiration, perseverance, intelligence and patience, he managed to govern Mexico City, form a party and democratically win the Presidency of the Republic in an election.
The almost unlimited power led him to fall into three of the seven deadly sins: pride, greed and anger, which he controlled during part of his life, but they got out of control when he became President, when he made the phrase valid. from a song that drunks like to sing in bars: “And my word is the law.”
In addition to this attitude, AMLO fell into three of the capital sins:
PRIDE: presumption, arrogance and arrogance, a sin that many politicians commit when they are in power, but pay for it when they leave it, even if they end up rich. Ill-gotten wealth that they have to hide and take care of to enjoy it.
GREED: greed, ambition and insatiable desire to have more money every day. Many rich people fall into that sin, which involves accumulating and accumulating. Politicians who help the poor do not do so with their own money, but with the money they take from taxes, most of which, due to fiscal transfer, are paid by the poor.
Businessmen consider taxes as another cost that they pass on to prices, which also reduces investment: more taxes, less investment, less growth, fewer jobs and more poverty.
ANGER: fury, rage, anger and anger. Sin that arises among rulers, between the rich, the middle class and the poor. It causes serious social damage when an angry ruler makes decisions and acts before thinking.
A good ruler must avoid falling into these three deadly sins if he wants to go down in history as a good ruler.
We have known AMLO for decades, I can say since children. Before, their behavior did not manifest those sins that, like many, worsen as they have more money and power.
The serious thing is that when they stop having power or money, they pay for it with the absence of friends and with the worry that, in any public place, they or their family will be insulted or accused of being thieves.
Hopefully in the future of my friend President López Obrador, the majority of poor, middle class or rich Mexicans will not blame him for his inexplicable enrichment and for inheriting to the next president an unbalanced government, without resources to pay its growing debt and a country impoverished, as I show in the book “Populist governments impoverish”, available on Amazon.
