Anthony Edwards: “I Just Want To Kill Everything In Front Of Me…"

During a chat with the media following Minnesota’s blowout win in Game 3, young star Anthony Edwards let the world know what he was all about. Revealing his “killer” mentality, Edwards told ESPN’s Scott Van Pelt that he just wants to destroy whatever’s in front of him.

“I just want to kill everything in front of me. That’s the main thing, pretty much. That’s all there is to it,” Edwards said. “I’ve never been here, so I don’t know how tough it is. I just come out here and play my game, and have my guys ready to win. I haven’t won a series yet, I’ve been sent home twice, so I’m thirsty to get it.”

With averages of 25.9 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 5.1 assists per game on 46% shooting this season, there is no question that Anthony Edwards is one of the game’s top young stars right now and he’s next in line to be the face of the NBA itself.

In his first three seasons in the league, while Edwards flashed his start potential on a regular basis, he was never able to lead the Timberwolves on a meaningful playoff run. Last year was the closest he got after winning a single game against the Denver Nuggets in the first round.

But after finishing 3rd in the West this season, the Timberwolves came into this postseason with fresh confidence about their playoff odds and it has shown in the first three games. With an average scoring margin of 18 points, the series hasn’t even been close so far and there are no signs of any drastic changes.

By the looks of it, Anthony Edwards and the Timberwolves have finally arrived in the Western Conference and they could upset the balance of power in the West if Anthony Edwards continues on this tear of ridiculous play.

Anthony Edwards Is On A Rare Trajectory

At just 22 years old, nobody will hold it against Anthony Edwards if he’s unable to get his team over the hump this year. With such limited playoff experience, most experts didn’t pick the Timberwolves to advance in the series anyway.

Unfortunately for the Suns, Ant is having one of the best stretches of his career right now and it’s on the verge of becoming his breakout moment. Friday’s game against Phoenix was arguably his magnum opus with 36 points, 9 rebounds, and 5 assists on 52 shooting to take a 3-0 series lead.

While Edwards still has a lot to prove, and a long way to go before he makes up ground with the GOATs, he’s on a very rare track right now and it doesn’t take a genius to notice how special his game has become.

Michael Jordan himself has given this guy the ultimate seal of approval and the Timberwolves have long tapped him as their leader and franchise centerpiece. Now, as he elevates to another level of stardom and trolls the legends in his way, Edwards is putting the whole world on notice and we’re seeing his rise to power happen before our very eyes. If he wins this year, it will mark the start of a new era in the NBA and it will be an exciting one to witness.
