The night of this Saturday, May 11, an armed attack on a food business left eight people dead and several injured, in the heart of the municipal seat of Huitzilac, Morelos. The events that occurred around 9:30 p.m. were recorded in a video circulating on social networks.
In the images it is possible to distinguish the moment in which, From two vehicles that stop in front of the small establishment, firearms are fired directly against the diners who fall when receiving the impacts. The cars circulated on Benito Juárez Street, along which they also fled.
Mayor Rafael Vargas Muñozwho is seeking re-election, issued a message in which he condemns the events and urgently requests the intervention of the federation and the state to reduce violence rates in the municipality: “Huitzilac is in mourning,” he said in his message in which he details the events and guarantees support for the affected families.
Violence takes over Huitzilac
On October 26, 2019, the Attorney General’s Office of the State of Morelos confirmed the location of the body of Josué Acosta, 34 years old, in a place in Huitzilac, son of notary public number nine of Cuernavaca, who was missing for more than two months, after leaving on a motorcycle on a Sunday to the town of Tres Marías.

On May 9, at 5:10 p.m., the attack against Jesús Tello Trejo, director of the municipal police of Huitzilac, in the municipal capital, was reported. The police officer received four shots that wounded him in the feet and legs, so he was transferred for medical attention to the José G. Parres General Hospital in Cuernavaca, Morelos.
