Nilópolis – Three pieces made using the amigurumi technique, a Japanese technique for creating small crochet or knitted dolls, were created by artisan Márcia Ferreira. But, she wanted to express African culture, not Asian, with her products. They were selected to participate in the 16th edition of the Rio Artes Fair, at the Expomag Convention Center, in the center of Rio de Janeiro, which runs until next Sunday (28).
Márcia is the representative of Nilópolis at the event, a promotion by the State Department of Culture (Secec). Technical advisor at the Nilópolis Tourism Department, Rafaelle Vieira, explained that the professional signed up on the event website, sent photos of the products and was selected.
“These three pieces, which symbolize Afro culture, received a high rating in relation to other pieces entered. The exhibition is curated by Coco Barsan and 92 municipalities participate in the activity, which began on the 24th and continues until April 28th, at EXPOMAG Former Sulamerica Convention Center, in the city of Rio de Janeiro, from 10am to 9pm.
The call for registration was made last March, with the filling out of a form and subsequent selection of artisans, associations or cooperatives from across the State of Rio de Janeiro to make up the program for the ’16th edition of Rio Artes’. Participants are free to visit during the five days of the fair, but they must participate on one day.
