Rio – Artur Jorge analyzed Botafogo’s victory over Juventude 5-1, this Sunday, 21, for the third round of the Brasileirão. In the post-game press conference, the coach praised the team’s behavior in the match and highlighted the good performance of the players even before the expulsion of Lucas Freitas, which left the opponent with one less.

“We won well, it was a victory achieved in a very competent way. We had many moments of the game with a good behavioral attitude. I also know that things became more accessible because we scored two goals very early. Afterwards, we had a numerical advantage, which it helps, naturally”, said Artur Jorge.

“It seems to me that it wasn’t just because we had numerical superiority, because, until then, we had a good performance, a very strong entry onto the field. A team entry wanting to show what they wanted. I’m very satisfied with what we did in terms of winning the three points. It also serves to motivate the athletes. Within a process that we are building, winning makes everything easier”, he added.

Despite the positive result, Artur Jorge held back his excitement and remembered that there is still a lot of work ahead. Tonight’s game was only the Portuguese’s fourth ahead of Alvinegro.

“Very little yet, we need much more. I’m not going to lose my balance with a significant victory. My players had a very good attitude, they made the result have that difference. But, of course, we still have a lot of work to do. We continue with the issue of having little time to work between games”, highlighted Artur Jorge.

“We are trying to use all the tools at our disposal to quickly get ideas to the athletes, what we want in terms of behavior, attitude, ambition. Today we had a little bit of all of that and it was also effective in scoring five goals. Still We have a long and tiring job ahead of us, because we want to do better, I’m not talking about the result itself, but because it has to be our goal too”, he concluded.

Another subject of the press conference was Jacob Montes. The midfielder arrived at Botafogo in mid-2022, but only played three times that season. In 2023, he didn’t even act. This Sunday, he entered the field and scored Glorioso’s last goal in the victory over Juventude.

“He’s a player who does a very good job. I don’t judge the past. I don’t look at the athlete in terms of the minutes he’s had in the past or the years he’s been at the club. I look at the performance, the work, the day to day. Whoever works, will have opportunities. Whoever works daily, who gives everything in training, will have opportunities as they come”, said the coach.
