He Mexico City Water System (Sacmex) reported this Thursday that it presented a complaint before the capital’s Attorney General’s Office (FGJCDMX) for “facts with the appearance of sabotage crime” after the scandal over contaminated water in the Benito Juárez mayor’s office.
Through a statement, Sacmex explained that it requested the Prosecutor’s Office to investigate the causes of the water problem in the district, after finding a compound of oils degraded in the water extracted from the Alfonso XIII Welllocated in Álvaro Obregón and identified as the point of origin of the contamination.
In the complaint, the agency warns of the “possible carrying out of a criminal conduct generated against the provision of the public service of distribution and supply of drinking water“, which has resulted in a “disruption to the economic, political, social or cultural life in the Benito Juárez mayor’s office.”

For the investigations, Sacmex requested the intervention of the General Coordination of Forensic Investigation and Expert Services of the FGJCDMX, with the purpose of appointing a official environmental expert to determine the conditions of the water extracted from the well.
