Banks, ready to accompany the next government – El Financiero

The bank is well positioned to meet the needs that financing exists at the local, regional and national level and their desire is to accompany the next administration to materialize investment projects in the country, assured Patricio Diez, general director of Compartamos Banco.

Upon arrival, the new administrations must state what their priority issues are. It is at this point that the banking sector, both as a union and individually, has to present its vision to know how it can collaborate with the incoming government for a successful management.

“If the new administration is doing well it is because the country is doing well.”and that is where banking plays a fundamental role in providing financing to all these projects where Mexicans benefit from economic growth above what we have seen in recent years,” he noted within the framework of the 87 Banking Convention.

The sector arrives well positioned for this transition, since the government that is about to end made it clear from the beginning that it would not make changes to the way banks operate so that they could continue with their efforts, both in financial inclusion and in bringing closer more products to Mexicans.

Despite the progress, there is still a way to go, since there are still isolated communities that do not have access to formal financial services, he acknowledged, and that is where the responsibility and opportunity lies for banks to develop regulated, transparent and efficient products.

“We continue to see that there is a very large potential marketan enormous need for financing and it is where we believe that we have the great responsibility of continuing to originate credit rigorously, but also developing other products,” he noted.

In order to achieve this objective, Patricio Diez maintained that Banking in general will try to continue migrating towards digitalization ordered that seeks to bring financial products to more people and thereby close the inclusion gaps that persist in the country.

“The digitalization of the offer becomes essential to be able to reach more people at a lower cost, to isolated communities, and this effort will continue in the following years,” he concluded.
