“We always want to win, at home or away. I came on as a center forward because we were coming in a lot from the sides. We had several crosses and we couldn’t find someone (to finish), as there was only Junior Santos (in front). The idea was to put one more man to try to generate plays”, said the defender.
Botafogo opened the scoring with Luiz Henrique, seven minutes into the first half, but the goal was disallowed. Bahia took the lead with Everaldo’s penalty goal, at 47. In the final stage, Alvinegro had a new goal disallowed, this time with Damián Suárez, at two minutes, but reached a draw with Jeffinho, at 17. In the end, Rafael Ratão scored at 40 and gave the Bahian team the victory.
With the defeat, Botafogo remained with nine points, lost the lead in the Brasileirão and now occupies third place. Bahia, in turn, takes second place, with 10, and has the same score as the new leader Athletico-PR. Alvinegro returns to the field next Wednesday (8), at 9:30 pm (BrasÃlia time), against LDU, from Ecuador, at Nilton Santos, for the 4th round of the Libertadores group stage.
