'Big Ed's' in Waukegan giving out free ground beef Sunday

WAUKEGAN, Ill. — A popular brisket spot in the North Suburbs is giving back some beef and making sure no food goes to waste

‘Big Ed’s BBQ’ in Waukegan says they go through so much brisket where they ground it up and make it into burgers. When they still have leftovers, they either donate the meat to different organizations or store them in freezers.

On Sunday, May 5, the restaurant located in the 4000 block of Northpoint Boulevard will be giving away packs of 2 to 3 pounds of brisket from 9 a.m. and 12 p.m.

“We know there are people that are struggling that can use this ground beef so we would like to give it away to any and everyone that can use it,” the restaurant owners said in a social media post.

There will be a limit per person.
