Rio – Leader of the Brazilian Championship, Botafogo returns to the field for the competition next Sunday (5), when, at 6:30 pm, it returns to the Nilton Santos Stadium to face Bahia. In a possible victory, Alvinegro could take the lead in the competition, but to do so, they will need the help of their three rivals from Rio.

The three clubs below Botafogo in the table will face the other three giants from Rio in this round. Vice-leader Atlético-MG will take the field this Saturday (4), at 4pm, against Fluminense. Bragantino, third placed, will face Flamengo on the same day, at 6:30 pm. Finally, Athletico-PR, which occupies fourth place, will face Vasco, next Sunday (5), at 4pm.

However, even if all the Cariocas win the round, Botafogo’s leadership will still not be 100% secure. This is because, for example, if Flamengo itself wins, it would go up to 10 points, while Alvinegro, in case of victory over Bahia, would go up to 12, leaving a difference of just two points. In addition to Rubro-Negro, Cruzeiro and Internacional could follow the same scenario.

Botafogo’s opponent in the round, Bahia is a direct opponent of Alvinegro at the top. Tricolor Baiano occupies fifth place in the Brasileirão, with seven points, and, in case of victory over the Rio club, would equal the number of points of its rival in the round.
