The Resende deck, which is located in the Campos Elíseos neighborhood, once again became the target of complaints from residents. One of the main reasons is the lack of reforms. In May 2023, a woman’s foot sank into the wood when she tried to walk across the deck. She was rescued by the fire department and was not seriously injured. At the time, the Resende Civil Defense closed the place for a while, but to this day no renovations have been carried out.
Until 2019, Resende City Hall used the location to hold the Free Fair, but changed the address to Beira Rio in front of Parque das Águas and has since abandoned that space. As it is located in the central area of the city, the deck was a destination for many traders at lunch time and for residents and tourists to take photos. The place is surrounded by nature and has a beautiful view of the city, but no one feels safe or comfortable using it.
The complaint is not recent and has been bothering city residents who pass through the stretch and would like to use the space. In addition to the broken wood, the lack of lighting causes fear and outrage among the population.
Jornal O Dia contacted Resende City Hall regarding the above issues and was informed that unfortunately there is still no forecast for the renovation, but that there is already a process to purchase material in progress to renovate it.
