Petropolis – This week, the Santa Isabel shelter, in Caxambu, was demobilized by the City Hall. Of the 14 families that were sheltering there, 13 are already living in new homes, through the Social Rent program (R$ 1,000 paid in full by the City Hall).
The other family was transferred to the shelter on Rua Floriano Peixoto (Gabriel Vila Real da Rocha Reception Center – City Hall equipment). As a result, there are now 12 families in the Floriano Peixoto shelter (the only unit that is homeless from the March rains).
“The Floriano Peixoto shelter is a reality in the municipality. Quality equipment, easily accessible, just a few minutes from the city’s main street. A piece of equipment that is further qualifying the City Hall’s social policy. In the last month, due to the rains in March, the importance of this equipment for Petrópolis became very evident”, said Mayor Rubens Bomtempo.
The Caxambu shelter was demobilized on Monday (22), one month after the March rains.
“We continue to work on inserting families affected by the rains into Social Rent. We are registering families who have become homeless or homeless in Social Rent, inspecting the houses to assess whether or not they will be banned and, in addition, inspecting new homes, chosen by families who entered Social Rent, to find out if they are safe for them. live there. It is work that involves the teams from the Secretariat of Social Assistance and the Secretariat of Civil Defense”, said the Secretary of Social Assistance, Valesca Gonçalves.
