The CBF decided not to stop the Brasileirão and reported this Tuesday (7) that games involving clubs from Rio Grande do Sul in all national tournaments are postponed due to damage caused by rain in Rio Grande do Sul, with flooded cities. A The measure is valid for the next 20 days, that is, until the end of May.
The decision comes after Grêmio, International and Youth request from the Rio Grande do Sul federation a postponement for the period – the three did not play in the last round. The first two had training centers and flooded stadiums and have no plans to return to training. Furthermore, Porto Alegre airport will be closed until the end of the month.

There was pressure for the entire Brasileirão round to be postponedbut the CBF did not give in, due to the concern of some clubs with the issue of the tight calendar, including so as not to harm the 2025 calendar. The entity also claimed commercial commitments to keep the championship going.

Another possibility raised was that the three clubs would train and play in another state, which was promptly denied.

With that, just the games involving Grêmio, Internacional and Juventude, valid until the 8th round, will not take place now. As well as those in the third phase of the Copa do Brasil and other clubs in Series B, C and D, as well as in the youth and women’s teams.

You Gauchos hope that Conmebol, which has already postponed this week’s round of games, will do the same in the next.

With the postponement, games Fluminense against Juventude (on 19/5) and Flamengo against Grêmio (in the eighth round) are among those that will be played on future dates.
