The Queimados City Council votes today (2) to definitively remove councilor Elerson Leandro Alves (PMB). The parliamentarian even lost his functions and also the presidency of the House, in 2023. In total, three Processing Committees were established to investigate the councilor, one of them on suspicion of nepotism, as the then president of the Chamber appointed his wife’s niece for the position of parliamentary advisor. Another Commission deals with non-compliance with the deadline established by law for presenting amendments to the 2024 Budget. In a third, the councilor responds for breach of parliamentary decorum. Elerson is being investigated by the Public Ministry for illegally accumulating public office. In addition to presiding over the Chamber, the councilor also received salaries as a civil servant at the State Court of Auditors (TCE/RJ), assigned to the Legislative Assembly of the State of Rio de Janeiro, which is prohibited by law.

From 2025, hotel projects in Cabo Frio will have a 40% discount on IPTU. The benefit, which has already been applied in the capital of Rio de Janeiro for more than 10 years, promises to drive transformations in the city’s accommodation and tourism sector. “It will be a fundamental incentive for the development of the local economy, based on tourism, a segment in which accommodation facilities are essential, including generating income and jobs”, said the president of ABIH-RJ, Paulo Michel.
Women want to increase power
The name of lawyer and human rights defender Renata Lira (PSOL) has gained strength in Niterói for the dispute in the City Council. Lira has the support of deputies Renata Souza and Taliria Petrone, from the same party. The main flag is the increase in the number of women in power. In the Niterói Chamber, currently, only Benny Briolli occupies a vacancy.
Sustainable practices in supermarkets
The Guanabara Supermarket chain opens its first store this month in Tanque, West Zone of Rio. The new unit will have measures aimed at sustainability, such as selective collection of oils of vegetable and animal origins. Furthermore, glass walls with thermal protectors and all LED lighting will reduce energy consumption by up to 15%.
