River – With more than 80 deaths in Rio Grande do Sul due to rains and floods, several institutions are mobilizing efforts to gather donations that will be sent to the population of Rio Grande do Sul. In Rio de Janeiro, NGOs, stores, restaurants and others provided physical points to collect objects for affected people.

The headquarters of Central Única das Favelas (CUFA) is one of the points receiving donations. People left materials to be sent to Rio Grande do Sul this Monday (6). Institutions are collecting non-perishable food, water, clothing, personal hygiene items, cleaning items and bedding.

The NGO Ação da Cidadania, which has carried out various social mobilizations for over 30 years, receives donations at its headquarters, located at Rua da Gamboa, 246, in Santo Cristo, in the Port Zone of Rio.

“Civil society organizations play a fundamental role in disasters like this in Rio Grande do Sul. When the tragedy happens, the public authorities, despite having a much greater force to act, act a little slower. Civil society It has much greater agility, especially at the beginning of the process, because it can make acquisitions and deliveries in a much faster, less bureaucratic way. At the same time, it reaches locations where public authorities cannot reach”, explained Kiko Afonso, director of the company. Citizenship Action.

“It is not an action to replace public power, quite the opposite. It is an action in convergence, in support of public power to mobilize the entire society, so that we can also give a chance to people who are at home, watching and suffering with everything that is happening, participate in this process. Send your affection, support and donations through these civil society entities that play this role brilliantly, with all their effort, many voluntarily”, he concluded.

The government of the State of Rio Grande do Sul also made a Pix available for donations. Linked to Banrisul, the account key is CNPJ number 92.958.800/0001-38.
