Chicago police search for man after women escape attempted sexual assaults in Lakeview

CHICAGO — Chicago police are searching for a man after a woman escaped and another was rescued in two separate attempted sexual assault incidents in Chicago’s Lakeview neighborhood Monday night.

Police said a man grabbed a 25-year-old woman from behind as she was walking in the 2700 block of South Brampton Avenue around 9:00 p.m.

The man told the woman to not turn around when he then attempted to sexually assault her. The woman started to scream for help when neighbors then came to her aid and helped her escape. The man took off running.

About 23 minutes later, police said the man attempted to sexually assault a 23-year-old woman in the 800 block of West Buckingham Place. After getting her to the ground the suspect made sexually explicit comments to her, but she was able to fight him off and get away.

Police described the man a heavy-set, in his 20s or 30s and wearing white clothes. He was either bald or had his hair very short.

Police are warning families to not let their kids play outside alone and to report any suspicious cars or people in the Lakeview neighborhood.
