School patrol: Municipal Guard will intensify service in NiteróiDisclosure/Ascom

Niterói – To offer even greater assistance to students in the municipal public network, the City Hall will expand the School Patrol program developed by the Municipal Guard and coordinated by the Municipal Public Order Secretariat (Seop). To ensure that agents can reach locations more quickly, five new vehicles have already been donated to City Hall by the Ministry of Justice and will be in operation this Friday (26).
The agents will be divided to serve all regions of the city. In addition to the fixed bases, when necessary for a specific action, flying patrols will be carried out. In addition to patrolling the surrounding areas of the units, the Municipal Guards will also intensify urban planning, mediate conflicts and hold educational lectures on various topics.
“School Patrol is an important activity of the Municipal Guard, which offers peace of mind and security for schools in the municipality. It is an activity that has great empathy with the families and students themselves, bringing the corporation closer to caring for people’s daily lives. And now we are happy because, in partnership with the federal government, we have new equipment and vehicles to carry out this work, which further improves our capacity to work with schools”, highlighted Mayor Axel Grael.
The agents carry out preventive patrols from 7am to 11pm, from Monday to Friday, around schools. One Saturday a month, when there is a school day, teams are also mobilized to work in the units.
“This is the expansion of the School Round, which is already in our target plan. It is part of Escola Mais Segura, a large project that we started last year in partnership with the Municipal Department of Education. It has five axes, and this is one of them. We will increase our presence in schools, we will create a specific area within our intelligence sector to deal with the issue of young people and social networks, which will supply these teams that will be in contact with schools. Because today, when there is any problem, conflicts, disputes, etc., it is very common to use social networks. So, we are making this connection and also expanding the physical part, increasing the number of teams that will use these vehicles that are being delivered”, explained the Secretary of Public Order of Niterói, Paulo Henrique de Moraes.
Municipal or private schools that wish to request lectures by the School Patrol can schedule an appointment via email at [email protected]. In case of emergency, students, parents or teachers can call the School Patrol via number 153, which operates at the Integrated Public Security Center (Cisp).
