Niterói: Itinerant Procon will tour all neighborhoods in the cityReproduction/Internet
The Procon Itinerante calendar is set until September. The actions take place every Thursday and Friday, always from 10am to 6pm. Services are provided by two lawyers and an administrative assistant. The vehicle is adapted with tables, air conditioning, computers, awning and generator.
The body’s main assistance and guidance currently concerns debts acquired by consumers, caused by unemployment and purchases made online during the pandemic.
“This service has been extremely important in making life easier, especially for consumers who live on the outskirts of the city. With this, we help solve their problems and also avoid travel expenses, making their lives easier. In addition to having all the equipment to serve them, we also provide Consumer Protection Codes, so everyone can know their rights and know when to seek help”, explains the Secretary of Consumer Protection, Roberto Teixeira.
The vehicle, donated to Niterói City Hall by the Public Ministry, cost R$250,000 and has the capacity to serve up to four people at a time. The idea is that the van will help take Procon services to needier or difficult-to-access areas, in addition to being used in joint citizenship actions with other departments.
The Government Secretary, Rubia Secundino, highlights that the partnership with the regional offices facilitates dialogue with neighborhood residents.
“Regional Administrations are already part of the daily lives of neighborhood residents due to their proximity and the work carried out together with the local population. This partnership will be fundamental in bringing information and legal guidance to those who need it and do not even know where to start the bureaucratic procedures that some processes require”, highlights Rubia.
The Consumer Protection Secretariat team has already mediated numerous cases, with an 86% rate of resolved situations. To receive assistance, citizens must present an identification document (ID and CPF), proof of residence and documents relating to the complaint.
