Collectives demonstrate over the case of two women run over by the Metrobús – El Financiero

People have asked justice for Renata and Mayawho were run over by a Metrobús unit in Mexico City in April; As part of this demand, groups demonstrated on Wednesday blocking the intersection of Eje 1 Poniente Guerrero and Eje 2 Norte Manuel González, in the Cuauhtémoc mayor’s office.

Around 20 hooded women sprayed paint and broke some windows at the Tlatelolco station and damaged a unit that was circulating at that time.

On April 10 the women were run over at that same intersectionso in Wednesday’s protests the demonstrators used blankets and photographs to prevent any type of vehicles from entering Paseo de la Reforma.

Almost a week later, Metrobús released a statement in which it regretted the incident and assured that it had maintained communication with the relatives of both women.

“Metrobus and The operating company provided what was requested by the FGJ, all the elements required for the opening of the investigation file for this fact,” he added in one of the points.

Through social networks it was announced that Maya and Renata were a newlywed couple, Maya was a nurse and Renata was a doctor.

Maya died after the accidentwhile Ren was hospitalized and her health condition was reported as serious.

Some feminist groups have accused the capital authorities of lesphobia and negligence because the Mobility Secretariat (Semovi) did not issue a statement or information card.

Meanwhile, they also point out that the Attorney General’s Office of Mexico City (FGJ CDMX) freed the Metrobús driver after having been detained by elements of the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) because, according to family members, he was speeding on the avenue where the accident occurred.
