CHICAGO — The Chicago Police Department has issued a community alert after nine armed robberies were reported in within five hours on the North and West side Sunday night.
According to the Chicago Police Department, a group of male suspects drove around the city’s Lincoln Park, North Center, Bucktown, Loop, Wicker Park, West Loop, and Humboldt Park neighborhoods and robbed at least 10 victims at gunpoint from 8:40 p.m. on Sunday to 1:30 a.m. on Monday.
The following locations were where the armed robberies occurred on Sunday, Feb. 4 and Monday, Feb. 5:
- 400 block of West Wrightwood, at 8:40 p.m.
- 2600 block of North Halsted, at 8:55 p.m.
- 2300 block of West Nelson, at 9:30 p.m.
- 1900 block of West Armitage, at 9:37 p.m.
- 400 block of South Plymouth Ct, at 11:00 p.m.
- 400 block of South State, Sunday, at 11:10 p.m.
- 1500 block of North Wood, Sunday, at 11:19 p.m.
- 200 block of North Peoria, Sunday, at 11:23 p.m.
- 2000 block of West Adams, Sunday, at 11:32 p.m.
- 1200 block of North Central, at 1:30 a.m.
The suspects involved have been described as four African-American males between the ages of 15 and 25-years-old. Authorities believe the vehicle used was a silver Kia sedan and grey or brown GMC SUV.
The four suspects also reportedly were wearing black ski masks, black hooded sweatshirts, black pants, standing between 5-foot-6 and 5-foot-10, weighing between 150 and 200 pounds, armed with handguns.
No further information has been provided at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
The Chicago Police Department want to remind residents if you are confronted by an assailant to remain calm, remember any unique physical characteristics, never pursue a fleeing assailant, and immediately report the incident.
