CU Buffs women’s basketball adds Missouri State transfer Jade Masogayo – Boulder Daily Camera

Some much-needed size and experience is coming to Boulder to play for the Colorado women’s basketball team.

On Thursday, the Buffaloes and head coach JR Payne announced that former Missouri State forward Jade Masogayo has committed to CU.

A 6-foot-3 forward with two years of eligibility remaining, Masogayo is currently the only true post player projected for the Buffaloes’ 2024-25 roster. CU has 11 roster spots filled, with four open scholarships to use.

Masogayo averaged 8.2 points and 4.9 rebounds in her 64 career games with Missouri State, while connecting on 51.3% of her shots.

“We have always loved Jade’s game and believe that her athleticism and skillset can really translate at this level,” Payne said in a press release. “We will definitely love to have Jade’s length on the court and know that she can impact both the offensive and defensive ends of the floor. I believe Jade will have a great impact on our team and our Boulder community.”

Masogayo, from Fossil Ridge High School in Fort Worth, Texas, was the Missouri Valley Conference freshman of the year in 2022-23. That year, she played in all 32 games, with three starts, posting 8.0 points and 5.4 rebounds per game, along with a .526 field goal percentage. She also averaged 1.6 assists, blocked 44 shots and had 39 steals.

This past season, she started all 32 games for the Bears. She averaged 8.4 points and 4.5 rebounds, along with 1.6 assists. She had a .500 field goal percentage and posted 28 blocks.

Masogayo is the third transfer addition of the offseason for the Buffs, along with forwards Nyamer Diew (Iowa State) and Lior Garzon (Oklahoma State).

The Buffs also have four returning players – guards Frida Formann, Kennedy Sanders and Kindyll Wetta and wing Sara-Rose Smith – and four incoming freshmen.
