According to Ariela’s report, at least five men attacked her physically and verbally. She, who was with her boyfriend, had a fractured arm and was left with several bruises on her body.
In a text published on social media, state deputy Renata Souza (Psol) gave details about the developments of the episode. “A support network, made up of trans and non-binary people, supported the couple at all times, from hospital care to the complaint procedures. Together with the LGTBI+ Citizenship Center of Baixada Litorânea, our mandate provided reception and guaranteed support legal, social and later psychological for the victims of this brutal violence”, he stated.
“Our mandate follows the case in the form of Theo Silveira, who was with the couple throughout today, and we will continue to support the victims, fighting for justice and reparation. Transphobia is a crime!”, added Renata.
Federal deputy TalÃria Petrone (Psol) also spoke: “What happened to Ariela is absurd. Ariela was the target of transphobia, with verbal and physical aggression in a bar in Cabo Frio. She was with her boyfriend. In the hospital, again she was disrespected. Our solidarity with her. Transphobia is a crime!”, he said, mentioning the complaint that Ariela had also been a victim of prejudice by a security guard at the hospital.
Monica BenÃcio (Psol), councilor for Rio de Janeiro, lamented the case and made herself available to the advisor: “We, LGBTs, rarely manage to just celebrate. Sad and outraged by yet another episode of aggression against trans people. Ariela Nascimento, welcome my affection and solidarity. We are available to help with whatever is needed.”
Remember the case
Ariela Nascimento told how the attack happened in a bar. “A cis man started making transphobic and violent comments, which made us extremely uncomfortable and threatened. When we decided to leave and return home, we were surprised by a group of cis men who cowardly attacked me. They attacked me with kicks and blows. madeira, and my boyfriend, Bruno, was also injured trying to protect me”, he said.
The advisor then stated that she went to the hospital, where she was once again a victim of transphobia.
The case was registered at the 126th DP (Cabo Frio). According to the Civil Police, investigations are underway to identify the perpetrators of the attacks and clarify all the facts.
New case
Councilor Benny Briolli, with whom Ariela works, has been a victim several times of transphobia and other episodes involving prejudice, racism and religious intolerance.
