“BA-DER-NA! Maria do Povo” is the plot of União da Ilha for 2025.
1849. União da Ilha follows in the footsteps of the biggest star on the operatic stage of a still imperial Rio de Janeiro: Marietta Baderna.
According to the Brazilian Portuguese Language Dictionary:

1. Situation of great confusion or disorder.
2. Party or entertainment, usually nocturnal and very lively.
3. Given the surname of the prima ballerina of the Milan Opera named Marietta, and her audience of revolutionaries – the Badernistas.
Erudite Ballerina. People’s Dancer.
Lover of the streets, who joined the popular crowd (blacks, natives and mestizos from the rabble), taking the steps of Cachucha and Lundu to Theatro Lírico São Pedro de Alcântara. Acclaimed by young romantics who fought for liberalist ideals in our country. Poets from the city’s cafes and brothels invade the scene, calling with their feet on the ground:
