Draymond Green wasn’t happy with a fan calling Joel Embiid ‘dirty’ for a controversial foul on Knicks center Mitchell Robinson. Green compared the foul to Domantas Sabonis grabbing his ankle mid-run in the 2023 Playoffs, which led to Green stomping on his chest in retaliation and getting suspended for a game.Â
“You had nothing to say when Sabonis grabbed my ankle mid-run, now did you?”

The foul from Embiid is egregiously bad. He clearly and intentionally grabbed Robinson’s ankles as he was about to go up for a shot. Given Robinson spent most of the season injured and returned from ankle surgery in time for the postseason, Embiid’s actions seem even worse.Â

Fans are right to say that Embiid made a dirty play. The implication isn’t that Embiid is a player with tendencies to make dirty plays, but this foul wasn’t the right thing to do. With Embiid playing through injury himself, he should understand the gravity of plays like that if they cause any issues for the opposing player.
Robinson was forced to check out of the game with a left ankle injury.
Regardless, Embiid will leave Game 3 with a big smile as the 76ers beat the Knicks 125-114 to make this a 2-1 series with the Knicks still leading. Joel had arguably the best game of his playoff career, putting up 50 points and eight rebounds on 68.4% from the field.
Joel Embiid Being Treated For Bell’s Palsy
After the 76ers Game 3 win, Adrian Wojnarowski reported that Joel Embiid is currently being treated for Bell’s Palsey, with treatment starting after their Play-In win over the Miami Heat.Â
“ESPN Sources: Sixers star Joel Embiid has been treated for a mild case of Bell’s Palsy for the past week. The condition began during the play-in victory over Miami but he has wanted to keep it private to avoid distractions for his team.”
This could be a pretty significant limiting factor for Embiid going forward, but he proved he can still play at the highest level with his 50-point outing tonight.
There have been multiple online theories about what’s wrong with Embiid after fans saw concerning videos of him in recent weeks. The biggest red flag came during a game where it was clear that Embiid was unable to move the left side of his face and even blink his eyes.Â

Bell’s Palsy can have extremely severe cases, but it’s clear that Embiid is healthy enough to keep playing. All everyone wants is for him to make sure he’s taking care of himself because a month-long playoff run isn’t as important as his overall health, especially if he wants to be in a position to compete at the 2024 Olympics.
