The action began after the victim contacted the 125th Police Station (125th DP) reporting that his XJ6 motorcycle had been stolen in Caxias and was being advertised for sale in São Pedro da Aldeia.
The agents set up a bell at the agreed sale location, on Avenida Getúlio Vargas, in the city center. Upon seeing the motorcycle, they approached the men who were with it, identified as Renato de Oliveira Leal Aguiar and Gutenberg Soares Dantas.
When checking the vehicle’s documentation, the police officers found that the motorcycle had different documentation and license plate than the original. However, the chassis matched that of the stolen vehicle.
After preliminary investigation, it was found that Renato, who was in possession of the motorcycle, and Gutenberg, who had announced the sale, acted together and knew that the vehicle was the proceeds of crime. Gutenberg, in fact, already had a record for the same crime in Rio Bonito.
Given the evidence and statements, a third element, who was with the criminals to hand over the motorcycle, was released, but had his cell phone seized for investigation. Renato and Gutenberg were caught in the act for the crime of qualified reception and remain in custody at the disposal of the Court.
