Erie, Louisville to begin farmers markets seasons

With warmer weather approaching, Erie and Louisville residents can shop for food locally at the farmers’ markets.

The Louisville Farmers Market season will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, and open for the same hours every Saturday through Oct. 19 at the Steinbaugh Pavilion, 824 Front St. The Erie Farmers Market is scheduled to run from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursdays on Briggs Stree, between Wells and Moffat Street. The market will be open every Thursday through Sept. 26, with the exception of July 4.

Kelly Miller, marketing manager for both markets, said they are a chance for community members to support their local farmers, artisans and artists. Miller said shopping locally is the “engine of these communities,” as it keeps money in the local economy and keeps family farmers operating.

Residents can use the markets as a “one-stop shop” for cooking dinner, as Miller said she curates the markets to have a variety of fruits and vegetables, meats, eggs, breads, juices and more.

“It’s an outside grocery store,” Miller said.

Whether bread or jewelry, Miller said it’s incredible to see vendors bring their passions to the market and connect with the community.

The Erie Farmers Market also hosts a vintage car show every last Thursday of the month. Both markets also accept SNAP and Double Up.

The Red Wagon Farm Store, 1640 W. Baseline Road, is anticipated to open in late July or early August. The Lafayette Peach Festival will be held Aug. 17.

The Longmont Farmers Market is held at the Boulder County Fairgrounds, 9595 Nelson Road, every Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m The Boulder Farmer Market is held at 13th Street and Canyon Boulevard 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays and 3:30-7:30 on Wednesdays.
