Expansion of the Monterrey Airport advances; Phase 2 will begin – El Financiero

After inaugurating the new eastern outpatient clinic in Terminal A of the Monterrey International Airport, which will begin to operate regularly in June and thus concludes the first phase of the expansion project, Grupo Aeroportuario Centro Norte (OMA) will begin to execute in the next months phase 2 of said project.

The company reported that the new works include the construction of a new inspection point, the expansion of the national baggage claim hall and the creation of new seating areas and boarding doors.

And at the end of this phase, the airport is expected to have the capacity to serve around 18 million passengers annually and a total area of ​​103 thousand square meters.

Regarding the new inaugurated area, it includes the construction of 6,253 square meters and includes 35 double documentation counters, commercial premises, airport services, medical service, checked baggage control and health centers.

“These expansion and remodeling works have allowed us to increase the dimensions and functionality of this space by 42 percent, going from 62,000 to 88,000 square meters, to serve 15.9 million passengers in this first phase,” Ricardo explained. Dueñas, general director of the OMA group.

The Monterrey International Airport consolidates its position as the main air interconnection center in the north of the country, with a connectivity network of 38 direct national and 22 international destinations, with eight national and five international air operators.
