F1: Verstappen dominates and wins Miami GP sprint race | Sport

River – Max Verstappen won once again in the 2024 Formula 1 season. The three-time world champion of the category led the Miami GP sprint race, this Saturday (4), from start to finish, and increased his advantage at the top of the drivers’ championship. Charles Leclerc, from Ferrari, and Sergio Perez, from Red Bull, completed the podium.

It was the Verstappen’s ninth victory in 14 sprint races, which was adopted into the Formula 1 calendar in 2021. Red Bull, in fact, was the highlight of the race. In addition to placing two RBR drivers on the podium, the energy drink brand’s second team, Racing Bulls, achieved fourth place with Daniel Ricciardo and eighth with Yuki Tsunoda.

The race was marred by an incident in the first corner at the start. Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso collided, and it was up to Lance Stroll and Lando Norris, who abandoned the race. Hamilton was penalized with 30 seconds after the race and finished in 16th place, ahead of Alonso and Magnussen. The Haas driver even collected 35 seconds in penalties for mistakes in the dispute with Hamilton.

The Miami GP classification will be held this Saturday (4), at 5pm (Brasília time), and will define the positions of the drivers on the grid. The main race takes place this Sunday (5), at the same time, at the Miami Circuit.
