Family-owned Lafayette restaurant announces closure – Boulder Daily Camera

95a Bistro & Co. in Lafayette announced its permanent closure, citing growing cost of operations as well as wanting to take the best step for the family.

In an April 9 message, 95a Bistro owners Kelly Kukura, Beau Kukura and Brodi Kukura said the decision to close is bittersweet and that managing a restaurant of that size required a lot of time, resources, labor, costs and maintenance.

“Despite our best efforts, we found it increasingly difficult to sustain operating 95a with rising expenses and the current economic landscape in the hospitality industry,” 95a Bistro owners said in a statement on the website.

A significant factor in the owner’s decision to close the restaurant, located at 1381 Forest Park Circle, was the escalating cost of labor and food. Serving quality food at a reasonable cost was always a commitment, but with rising costs and inflation, the commitment was no longer a reality for the restaurant as profit margins narrowed.

The statement also cited that running the restaurant has taken a toll on the Kukura family and the family recognized the importance of maintaining a healthy family dynamic and maintaining their own health.

According to previous reporting, the family had been operating the restaurant since 2011. The Kukuras were not immediately available for a comment. More information is available at 95abistro.com.
