FBI serves subpoenas at Dolton Village Hall

DOLTON, Ill. — The Federal Bureau of Investigation served subpoenas at the Dolton Village Hall Friday afternoon, according to an FBI spokesperson.

Sources told WGN News a handful of FBI agents arrived around 2:15 p.m., but as has been standard practice in recent weeks, the doors were locked and the agents had to identify themselves to the employees inside and ordered them to open the doors.

It is unclear the purpose behind the FBI’s actions Friday afternoon, but an FBI spokesperson told WGN News, “The FBI was conducting court-authorized law enforcement activity in that area today.”

Dolton Mayor Tiffany Henyard, who also serves as the supervisor for Thornton Township, has been the focus of months of WGN Investigates reporting. She’s accused of retaliating against people she perceives as her political opponents, and spent nearly $100,000 of taxpayer money in the past year on travel for her and her entourage.

Trustees in Dolton have also accused her of improperly approving payments to vendors.

The FBI’s activity in Dolton Friday came during the same week as Henyard’s top aide in both Dolton and Thornton Township, Keith Freeman, was charged with bankruptcy fraud. Freeman is accused of lying about and hiding his income from Dolton.

This is an active story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
