Rio – After starring as Kelvin in “Terra e Paixão”, on TV Globo, Diego Martins shows yet another aspect of his artistic work to his fans with the video for “Te Esquecer”, released last Friday (02), as singer and drag queen. In an interview with DAYthe 26-year-old artist talks about the grandiose production, where he exudes sensuality, remembers his work in the craft and hopes that the public enjoys the audiovisual.
“There is a very large part of the people who watched me as Kevinho, who don’t know about my work as a drag queen. So, it will be cool to be able to take this work to these people too and show that I do other things. As this audience really liked the Kevinho, I think they will be interested in this aspect of my work too. I’m very excited for everyone to see ‘Te Esquecer’, because it’s beautiful. Lennon Silva did an incredible job directing it, Vinni San with the choreography, Larissa Castilho did incredible styling. The production is beautiful. Oh, I look very beautiful, for God’s sake”, celebrates Diego.
This is the artist’s fifth music video, but the first with a great production. “There are a lot of people, there are a lot of professionals involved and I’m very happy like this, because for me this represents the growth and evolution of a dream and the realization of yet another dream, in addition to representing the growth of my work as well”, says Diego . “It’s a very engaging, hot clip that makes you want to dance, sing, very sensual too. It’s really beautiful, it’s the biggest video of my career to date”, he highlights.
Although many people only know this side of Diego’s work for now, he has great achievements under his belt. He participated in “The , “Spring Awakening” and “West Side Story”. In 2022, Diego was crowned champion of the first season of HBO’s “Queen Stars Brasil”.
“In fact, I didn’t start yesterday. I won the reality show ‘Queen Stars Brasil’ presented by Pabllo Vittar, Luisa Sonza, and that experience was incredible. It wasn’t my first reality show, I think that helped me a lot too because I already I was prepared to experience things in front of the cameras, to experience this nervousness. This nervousness that comes with performing in front of the cameras and being judged, that wasn’t new to me. I was prepared for that and that helped me a lot too, you know, I I became calmer, I managed to do well in presentations, and it was also one of the greatest experiences of my life”, he recalls.
Miss Kelvin
Diego debuted in soap operas last year and was one of the highlights of “Terra e Paixão”, like Kelvin. The character won the heart of Ramiro (Amaury Lourenzo) in Walcyr Carrasco’s serial, which came to an end on January 19th, and also of the public. The couple’s first kiss in the series even caused a stir on social media. Diego admits that he is still grieving the end of the plot and misses the character.
“I’m missing Kelvin, I’m missing Kevinho. I think, like every end of work, there’s grief, right? There’s the grief of saying goodbye to those people, that routine, that job, and that character who was left with you for so long. In fact, Kevinho was the character that accompanied me the longest. It was a year of soap opera. I thought it would be easier to deal with this grief. I thought I would be more prepared, but no”, says the actor .
“Amaury and I were really busy the last few days. I saw people saying, ‘oh, last few days’, people crying and I couldn’t feel so emotional, because it was such a crazy rush that I could only think about to sleep, to rest so that I can be well the next day. So, for me, the penny actually came to an end that this great work, this great moment in my life, this penny only dropped later, this penny is only dropping now in fact, you know ?”, he adds.
New projects
Recognized as an actor, Diego reveals whether he already has other professional projects in mind. “‘Terra e Paixão’ was the work that brought me the most visibility and gave me the most reach as an actor. It also elevated my art as a singer and as a drag queen, because I was able to sing in the soap opera too and people who didn’t know I sang , now you know. Anyway, my shows are getting more and more crowded, there are more and more shows. Thank God, there are already several other projects in sight, I’m working hard and soon we’ll announce another job that I’m going to do in 2024 acting and singing. I’m very excited for people to see it, because it will bring together many things that I love doing. It will be a very challenging and very cool job too. Very enjoyable to do”, he adds.
