Municipal government actions are seen as important for the city to reduce poverty

Campos – High employability, social programs and productive opportunities for family members in entrepreneurship guarantee that Campos dos Goytacazesser is the only municipality in the northern region of the State of Rio de Janeiro to present a reduction in the poverty rate in the month of March, in relation to the same period in last year.
The observation was made by the director of Economic and Social Indicators of the Municipal Development Secretariat, economist Ranulfo Vidigal, when commenting on data released this Monday (29) by the Ministry of Combating Hunger, based on the numbers of people in the poorest part of the population Brazilian registered in CadÚnico.
The data is part of the federal government’s strategy to carry out an evaluation of public income transfer policies: “The basis for all programs is CadÚnico – a registry that enables perfect targeting of actions, aiming to reduce poverty in our country”, highlights Vidigal.
The regional profile is considered interesting by the economist, mainly because it compares cities with a very similar social context: “These recent data confirm the rightness of the public authorities in prioritizing the public budget in the areas of income transfer, health and education, which in Campos they make up more than half of the annual expenditure/investment”.
EMPLOYABILITY – Within the context, the director highlights that, on the other hand, one cannot ignore the significant growth in employability in the city which, according to the General Register of Employed and Unemployed Persons (Caged) – a body linked to the Ministry of Labor -, represents 12 thousand net vacancies in three years.
“We should also not ignore the 8,800 new individual micro-entrepreneurs that have come into existence, or the efforts of Fundecam (Fields Development Fund) to support small businesses”, points out Vidigal, analyzing that the challenge for the coming years is to continue generating productive opportunities, by strengthening local industries.
The economist emphasizes that the result pointed out by the Ministry shows that Mayor Wladimir’s choice to stabilize municipal finances and strengthen the local economy was correct: “In the regional context, it leaves homework for other cities, in order to strengthen dynamism. of their economies, as is the case with Campos, according to observations from a recent study by the Universidade Estadual do Norte Fluminense (Uenf)”, he highlights.
