The date for the upcoming Final Fantasy 14 (FFXIV) Live Letter 81, which includes some job-related updates coming to the game in patch 7.0, has been revealed by the developers.

The announcement included the dates for the upcoming livestream. The FFXIV Letter from the Producer LIVE or Live Letter as game players call it, will happen on May 15, 2024, at 4:00 AM PDT/ 11:00 AM GMT/ 9:00 PM AEST.
Players will be able to watch the live stream on three platforms: YouTube Live, NicoNico Live (Japanese website), and Twitch. Waiting rooms for the lives are already available on YouTube and NicoNico.
As for the contents of Live Letter 81, the Lodestone post mentions that the upcoming Live Letter will include “Patch 7.0 Job Information.” This likely includes information about the new jobs, as well as updates for all existing Jobs. This likely includes new skills and the like.
The previous Live Letter 80 saw the launch of the official Dawntrail Benchmark, which players can use to test if their hardware can handle Dawntrail once it comes out. The higher the player’s score is in the Benchmark, the better their hardware can handle the upcoming Expansion.
Additionally, Live Letter 80 served as a demonstration for the graphics update that would go live once Patch 7.0 arrives in FFXIV. They demonstrated the various changes to grass physics, shadows, water physics, and more. They also added some updates to the mounts in the game, allowing them to turn more naturally.
Other than that, they also announced the changes to the game’s Blacklist system. This includes term filters in chat, the hiding of blacklisted characters, and more.
What Job Updates Can We Expect?
For starters, as mentioned above, we will likely see our first glimpse of what Viper and Pictomancer can do. Likely, they will demonstrate their rotations, as well as what skills and abilities Viper and Pictomancer have.
Tank Jobs will likely receive new ways of keeping themselves alive. Job-specific mitigations (shields for Paladin, healing for Warrior, etc) are very likely.
For Healers, they might receive additional sustain skills, like regens, skills, or shields, or even some buffs that can help the team in difficult fights.
DPS characters, perhaps obviously, will likely remove even more damage skills. In fact, if the Benchmark trailer is any indication, all of the current jobs in the game will likely receive new attack abilities. We will just have to wait until the Live Letter comes around to see what exactly gets added to each Job.
