Rio – Last week, the name of Brazilian Igor Coronado, who recently terminated his contract with Al-Ittihad, from Saudi Arabia, was speculated in Flamengo. However, Rubro-Negro’s vice-president of football, Marcos Braz, assured that there are no ongoing negotiations for the athlete.

“Zero, there are no negotiations. Even out of respect for the player, it’s not that it’s zero chance. What I said is that there are no negotiations going on. Because talking about zero chances is disrespectful to the player. So, like that, I I’m saying that there’s nothing going on with this player and it never started”, said Braz.

Coronado, in fact, was one of the themes of Tite’s press conference, given after the victory over Volta Redonda. In this sense, assistant Matheus Bachi confirmed that he had spoken to the player.

“We followed several championships last year when we were off, without working. We made our hiring ideas very clear to the management. We also have to be open to opportunities that we believe can add to the squad, that they can come and compete,” said Bachi.

“We are aware that FIFA dates can hurt our team a lot. So, in this whole scenario, I had contact with him to find out what his idea was, how the situation was. Afterwards, everything was discussed with the management”, he concluded.

Revealed in European football, Igor Coronado spent time at clubs in Malta and Italy before pursuing a career in the Arab World. There, he wore the shirt of Al Sharjah, from the United Arab Emirates, for three seasons, and transferred to Al-Ittihad, where he enjoyed the best phase of his career.

For the Saudi team, he made 75 appearances, scored 16 goals and provided 35 assists. Additionally, he won a National Championship and a Saudi Arabian Super Cup. The tendency is for the midfielder’s future to be at Corinthians.
