Guapimirim – Voter registration is closed as of this Thursday (9) due to preparations for the 2024 municipal elections. Because of this, it is no longer possible to collect fingerprints. Even without biometrics, voters will be able to vote normally.
On May 2nd, TRE-RJ issued a document urging public servants in Rio de Janeiro not to limit the number of services through passwords until 7pm – extended hours – and that all voters who were in an electoral zone until that time, despite the queues, they should be served. In notes, the National Federation of Workers of the Federal Judiciary and Public Ministry of the Union (Fenajufe) and the Union of Federal Justice Servers in the State of Rio de Janeiro (Sisejufe) accused the Rio de Janeiro electoral body of allegedly “intimidating ” public servants with the opening of disciplinary administrative proceedings (PAD), so that they could carry out “exhausting” work days, including during the early hours of the morning, due to the queues during the biometric registration period.
In Guapimirim, as in many other Brazilian cities, there will be elections for mayor and councilors. The election is scheduled for October 6th. In municipalities where there is a second round, the dispute for the Municipal Executive will be decided on the 27th of the same month.
