Marcelo was welcomed by more than 34 thousand fans at Maracanã last year. The event also featured a show by rapper Filipe Ret, who is a Fluminense fan. The international window opens on July 10th, but there is a possibility that the defender will be released by England’s Chelsea before May 19th.
This will be Thiago Silva’s second spell at Fluminense. The defender played for the club between 2006 and 2008, where he played 147 matches, scored 14 goals and was champion of the 2007 Copa do Brasil, as well as runner-up in the Libertadores in 2008.
After his time at Fluminense, Thiago Silva pursued a career in Europe. He played for Milan, from Italy, Paris Saint-Germain, from France, and Chelsea, from England. He was national champion in Italy and France, while with the English club he achieved his greatest achievements with the Champions League and World Cup.
