Rio – Former head of arbitration at CBF, Leonardo Gaciba commented on the supposed penalty on Luiz Araújo in the draw between Flamengo and Bragantino, last Saturday (4). According to the former referee and, currently, commentator, the penalty existed. Gaciba also expressed concern about the guidelines for this type of move.

“The Bragantino player doesn’t want to play at any point, he just wants to grab the Flamengo player. For me, there is the penalty. There is no closed camera to be able to analyze the impact in more detail. But from the images I saw, there is “, said Gaciba, on the channel “ESPN”.

“What worries me is the guidance given this year. What they are saying in the refereeing committee is that: ‘If the grab happens outside the play, if the ball doesn’t go to them, it won’t score, because it had no impact on the game’. Isn’t that shocking?” he concluded.

According to the VAR audios, which were released by the CBF last Saturday night (4), both the match referee, Paulo Cesar Zanovelli da Silva (Fifa), and Daniel Nobre Bins (Fifa), who was responsible for the VAR, stated that there was nothing from the bid.

Such decisions taken by the arbitration generated revolt within Rubro-Negro. Players and managers went public after the match to complain about the measures taken by Zanovelli.
