Former CU Buffs guard Shelomi Sanders transferring to Alabama A&M – Boulder Daily Camera

Former Colorado women’s basketball player Shelomi Sanders has found a new home.

On Thursday night, Sanders announced that she is transferring to Alabama A&M.

A walk-on with the Buffaloes the past year and a half, and the daughter of CU head football coach Deion Sanders, Shelomi put her name in the transfer portal earlier this month.

For Shelomi, it will be a return to the Southwestern Athletic Conference. She began her career as a walk-on at perennial SWAC power Jackson State – where her father was the head football coach – in the fall of 2022. When her father was hired at CU in December of 2022, Shelomi followed him to Boulder and joined the women’s basketball team in the middle of the season.

Shelomi redshirted during the 2022-23 season. This past season, Shelomi appeared in five games, playing 11 minutes and scoring three points.

Sanders was one of seven CU players to enter the transfer portal and several have already committed to new schools.

Center Aaronette Vonleh has committed to Baylor; forward Brianna McLeod to SMU; guard Mikayla Johnson to Pittsburgh; and forward Ruthie Loomis-Goltl to Idaho.

Guards Jadyn Atchison and Lele Tanuvasa have yet to announce where they are transferring.
