Boulder police said that the four people involved in Sunday’s shots-fired incident near Weber Hall on the University of Colorado Boulder’s campus Sunday were shooting a BB gun.
According to Christine Mahoney, a spokeswoman with the CU Boulder Police Department, four people are facing charges in the incident, three of them juveniles.
The suspects are not affiliated with the university, said Mahoney.
Upon further investigation, the CU Boulder Police Department was able to determine the weapon in question was an “air pistol that shoots BBs,” according to a CU Boulder alert.
According to the alert, this type of air pistol makes sounds similar to gunshots.
At 4:24 a.m. Sunday, an alert was issued stating that there were reports of shots fired in the area of Williams Village, that police were responding, and recommended that students shelter in place and avoid the area.
