Rio – The Civil Police arrested, on the afternoon of this Thursday (9), the fugitive Henrique Vieira Cardia, accused of killing Ernani da Fonseca with blows from a pipe and stones to the head in Vargem Grande, in the West Zone of Rio.
The crime took place in February 2022 and, shortly afterwards, Henrique fled to Paraguay. According to investigations, the suspect set up an ambush and hid in the woods while waiting for the victim to return from church. With that, he surprised Ernani with blows to the head.
The murder would have been committed because Henrique had reprimanded some of the accused’s actions, such as stealing water from the farm where he lived, using the house to hide objects stolen in the region and inappropriate conduct against the victim’s sister.
After hiding in Paraguay, the fugitive returned to Campo Grande and began intimidating witnesses and residents of the region. As a result, police officers from the Capital Homicide Police Station (DHC) located and arrested Henrique. He will be sent to the prison system, where he will be available to the courts.
