England – Hired to be the reference in Arsenal’s attack, Gabriel Jesus may be on his way to leaving the London club. According to the English portal ‘The Athletic’, the Gunners are willing to negotiate for the Brazilian next season.
The injuries suffered prevent Jesus from having a good run as a starter this season, which sees his competitor in the position, Kai Havertz, having a great time. The German’s good form makes Arteta choose the Brazilian as a winger, a position where he does not like to play. However, the striker admitted that he just wants to play.
“I don’t want to come here and say that Gabi doesn’t mind playing as a winger when his position is normally nine. This part of the season, you don’t complain. I never complain. I just want to work. This part of the season, I’m going to leave my ego aside and just help in the best way and do whatever the coach wants to help the team in the best way”, said Jesus, in a press conference on April 8.
Coach Mikel Arteta does not consider having Gabriel Jesus in the squad to be a problem. The number 9 has the confidence of the coaching staff, both in terms of quality and character. However, physical problems, experienced since the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, prevent him from continuing as a starter.
At Arsenal since mid-2022, signed for 52 million euros (R$289 million at the time), the Brazilian played 66 games for the London club, scored 19 goals and provided 14 assists.
