LOVES PARK, Ill. — A woman who was gifted a Lucky Day Lotto ticket plans to buy a car and find a new place to live after the ticket wound up being a million dollar winner this week, Illinois Lottery officials said.
The winner, who has chosen to remain anonymous, received the ticket from a regular customer of the Fas Mart store at 6010 East Riverside Blvd. in the small community of Loves Park, north of Rockford, a release said.
The ticket matched all five numbers of Monday’s midday drawing: 3, 4, 6, 25 and 27.
The winner told officials she plans to use the windfall on a new car, a new home and support for her grandfather, with the remainder going to savings.
“Everything happens for a reason,” the anonymous winner was quoted as saying.
For selling a winning ticket, the store will receive a bonus of one percent of the prize amount: $10,000.
Lucky Day Lotto is played only in Illinois, with twice-daily drawings. More than four million winning Lucky Day Lotto tickets have been sold so far this year, with players winning in excess of $22 million collectively, officials said.
