Gol created a special network of 122 extra flights to serve the South region until the end of May amid the indefinite closure of Porto Alegre airport. The company will have new flights at the airports of Caxias do Sul, Florianópolis and Passo Fundo and will prioritize operations with larger planes in Chapecó.
From May 14th, two extra daily flights will be made available to the capital of Santa Catarina: one from Congonhas, in São Paulo, and the other from Galeão, in Rio. “Florianópolis has been one of the main points of support for customers affected by the cancellations in Porto Alegre and was chosen due to the air and land infrastructure to receive more passengers and cargo”, says the airline in a note. The company’s supply increase reaches 15% in Florianópolis.
In Passo Fundo, which is currently served with up to three weekly flights to Guarulhos with 737-700 aircraft, with 138 seats, Gol will increase its offer with daily flights, operated by 737-800 aircraft, with 48 more seats per takeoff until the end of May. In the city in the interior of Rio Grande do Sul, the company expanded the number of seats available by 195% during the period.
Gol is also awaiting authorization to include extra flights to Caxias do Sul from Congonhas.
On all extra flights during this period, the airline will also carry donations in the aircraft’s holds, which will be transported overland for distribution in cities in Rio Grande do Sul affected by the floods. With the measures adopted to increase supply, the availability of transporting cargo and supplies in the hold of aircraft increases to up to 670 tons

Gol reinforces that customers who wish to reschedule their flights, arriving or departing from Porto Alegre or Pelotas airport, will be able to do so through the company’s website, with the possibility of leaving the value of the ticket in credit with the company or refund in full, in addition to exemption from the rebooking fee for Gol flights.
