The proposal was presented at the MGI headquarters, in BrasĂlia, during the fourth meeting of the Specific and Temporary Table that debates career restructuring.
For 2024, the government had already formalized, for all federal employees, a proposal to readjust food allowance, which would go from R$658 to R$1,000 (51.9% more), a 51% increase in resources allocated to supplementary health care (health aid) and an increase in pre-school assistance (daycare aid), from R$321 to R$484.90.
According to the ministry, if the increase in benefits and the 9% adjustment granted last year are considered, in addition to the proposal made this Friday, technicians would have an average global adjustment of more than 20% for their career.
According to the MGI, the proposal presented this Friday also includes the verticalization of careers âwith a single matrix with 19 standards; the reduction of the interval for progression based on merit from 18 to 12 months; the change in the time taken to reach the top of the career ladder, which is now 18 yearsâ.

In addition to initially demanding a salary increase that varies from 22.71% to 34.32%, depending on the category, the employees are asking for the restructuring of careers in the technical-administrative and teaching areas; the revocation of âall regulations that harm federal education approved under the Temer and Bolsonaro governmentsâ, as well as the recomposition of the budget and the immediate readjustment of student aid and scholarships.
According to Sinasefe, the tendency is for the strike to continue, as the term presented by the government, so far, does not restore salaries or restructure careers. âThe government’s proposal was an adjustment of 9% for January 2025 and 3.5% for May 2026. This means maintaining the salary freeze for 2024â, assesses the union.
The decision of education officials will be made official after consultation with local assemblies and presentation during the national plenary, yet to be called.
