Hundreds turn out for Sip & Style Fashion Fundraiser to benefit Aspinwall school

Hundreds were drawn to a fashion-filled afternoon May 5 to benefit Christ the Divine Teacher Catholic Academy in Aspinwall.

The annual Sip & Style soiree took place at the Pittsburgh Field Club in Fox Chapel.

Co-chairpersons and friends Lauren Shepherd of Hampton and Jayna Varley-Ifft of Fox Chapel returned as hosts for the three-hour gathering that included a silent auction, buffet lunch, champagne and cocktails, and shopping at more than 15 pop-up fashion booths from area woman-owned boutiques.

The main event was a summer-themed fashion show.

“This was so much fun, and I loved being here,” said model and attendee Erin Bonner.

CDTCA is a nonprofit school founded in 1925 serving students in grades Pre-K-8.

Sip & Style raised more than $30,000 last year and serves as a major fundraiser for the school.

“We want to help our local businesses grow and prosper and bring more awareness to them so that we as a community, as a whole, can grow together,” Shepherd said before the fashion show portion of the event.

Sip & Style committee volunteers included Amy Plumley, Holly Natali, Jill Friday, Kelly Dzvonick, Lauren Palmer and Marcie Buck.

CDTCA Principal Mark Grgurich expressed gratitude for the hard work of the entire Sip & Style committee.

“The fundraiser has quickly become our largest fundraiser for the school, representing a third of our annual fundraiser goal. We’re so grateful for the community support and the hard work of our dedicated volunteers,” Grgurich said.

Next year’s Sip and Style is scheduled for May 4.
