Chile – Manoel told “behind the scenes” of the goal he scored in Fluminense’s 1-0 victory over Colo-Colo, on the night of this Thursday, 9th, for the fourth round of Group A of the Libertadores. The move happened in the 29th minute of the second half, in one of Tricolor’s few attacks in the match. Marcelo had the ball at the edge of the area, took it to his right foot and finished. The defender was attentive and headed the ball to take away any chance of a save from goalkeeper Cortés.

“The ball ended up leaving the area a little bit, but I stayed in the area confident that I would score the goal. Thank God I managed to score the goal”, said Manoel, to ESPN.

With the result, Fluminense reached eight points and increased its advantage at the top of the group. Colo-Colo, in turn, has four and appears in third place.

“Happy with the goal, I was able to help my team come away with a victory. We knew it would be a difficult game, a lot of fighting. Diniz prepared us well, that it would be a decisive game, a final. We had to see it as a final , and we faced it. Thank God we managed to come out with the victory. That’s the path.

Fluminense’s next match in the Libertadores will be against Cerro Porteño, at 7pm on Thursday, at Maracanã. The game in question is valid for the fifth round of Group A.
