Big Iguaba – The 2nd Iguaba Open Taekwondo Kiorugui takes place this Saturday (20), at Quadra Poliesportiva Oswaldo Antunes Neves. The festival will bring together 120 athletes from various cities in the state to compete in Kiorugui (fighting) and Poomsae (imaginary fighting).

The sporting event, which starts at 9am, has free entry. Participating athletes range in age from 4 to 70 years old.

The Kiorugui modality is where athletes compete in hand-to-hand combat using kicking, punching and blocking techniques. The Poomsae modality, known as imaginary fighting, evaluates the technique, precision and performance of athletes in executing sequences of pre-defined movements.

Taekwondo has been an Olympic sport since the Seoul Olympic Games in 1988 and has been gaining more and more fans in Brazil.
