Inai reacts to the disclosure of personal data and orders an investigation – El Financiero

Julieta del Río Venegas, commissioner of the National Institute of Transparency, Access to Information and Protection of Personal Data (Inai), criticized the accusations made by the Government of Mexico against Maria Amparo Casarthis when considering that It is an ‘unheard of’ fact and violates the law.

“It’s unheard of. They are personal and sensitive data. They are violating the General Law on Protection of Personal Data Held by Obligated Subjects and are exposing people,” declared Julieta del Río.

Through a statement released in X, Inai explained that the presidency has the obligation to ‘protect the personal information that it possesses’, as established in the General Law on Protection of Personal Data Held by Obligated Subjects.

The accusation against María Amparo Casar indicates that has illegally collected a pension of 124,948 pesos per month after the death of her husband, Carlos Fernando Márquez Padilla. It is also assumed that she received a economical support for funeral expenses and payment of life insurance.

Furthermore, the official considers that the writer’s personal details Maria Amparo Casar were disclosed in an “inappropriate manner”since it was done without his consent.

Given this situation, the Inai commissioner ordered to immediately begin an investigation and will remain attentive to the complaints that the people involved could present.


“It breaches the duty of confidentiality and is violating the law in several ways. This should be due to a complaint from the affected people, but also the Inai should initiate an ex officio investigation immediately,” he added.

“At the same time, both can be done, but the Inai, ex officio, must act,” the official concluded.

What did María Amparo Casar respond?
